SDG Alignment

As our planet faces massive economic, social and environmental challenges the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's) to define global priorities and aspirations for 2030 and encourages all businesses to align their strategy and ensure sustainability is at the core of their business strategy.

ECANDI was created with sustainability at its core but we think it’s important we have a way to record, monitor and continue to improve so we have set out our own Sustainable Business Model with the UN SDG’s as our overarching framework to shape, steer, communicate and report our strategy, goals and activities.

Our way of business may only be a drop in the ocean to contributing to global sustainable development but at least our drop is clean.

Charity

We give a portion of our profits to charitable projects. Our current charity partner is Blessed Sun registered in the Netherlands with projects in Kenya. We also partner with various other social, environmental and animal charities throughout each year.

Sustainable Sourcing

We source the most sustainable products available in each category and have strict criteria regarding the sourcing of items. Our sustainable sourcing policy also includes up cycled and pre-loved materials.

Fair & Transparent Supply Chain

We only work with suppliers who ensure workers’ rights, diversity, inclusion and equality are safeguarded. We seek to work with Fair-trade producers to improve their livelihoods and communities with concern for social, economic and the environmental wellbeing of marginalised small producers.

Innovation

We collaborate with our suppliers and makers to improve products and packaging.

Climate Neutral:

A longer term aim of our business is to become a net zero emission company. We do not ship internationally to reduce our carbon footprint.

Responsible Consumption:

We encourage our customers to buy less but buy better. Every single one of our products is tried and tested to ensure our products perform equally, if not better than conventional products.

Zero Waste Business:

We strive to become a zero waste business in every aspect of our operations. We actively opt for paper/glass/metal over plastic packaged products and work with suppliers to create refill and package-free solutions.

Small Independent Businesses:

We prioritise working with small independent businesses who make their products in Kenya. We source the vast majority of our products locally whenever possible.
